    Historical Corrections

    Accuracy is important to us.

    If you believe an article contains an incorrect name, date, location, codename, archival reference, photograph identification, operational detail, or other factual error, please let us know.

    A useful correction request should include:

    • the page or article concerned;
    • the statement you believe is incorrect;
    • the proposed correction;
    • the source supporting the correction;
    • an archival reference, publication, page number, or reliable link where available.

    Please see our Corrections Policy for more information about how corrections are evaluated.

    Sources and Archival References

    We particularly welcome information about relevant primary sources.

    These may include:

    • SOE personnel files;
    • operational reports;
    • wartime correspondence;
    • photographs;
    • diaries and letters;
    • resistance records;
    • aircraft records;
    • government documents;
    • museum collection records;
    • oral histories;
    • material held in private or family archives.

    If you are contacting us about an archival document, please include the institution and catalogue reference whenever possible.

    For example:

    The National Archives — HS 9/[reference]

    Precise references make it much easier for us to evaluate and follow up on historical information.

    Family Histories and Private Collections

    Relatives of SOE personnel sometimes hold photographs, letters, documents, diaries, or information that does not appear in widely available published sources.

    We welcome contact from families who would like to share information relevant to our research.

    Please tell us as much as you comfortably can about the provenance of the material, including who originally owned it, its approximate date, and how it relates to the person or event concerned.

    Sending information does not automatically grant permission for us to publish it.

    If material is offered for publication, reproduction rights and preferred attribution should be discussed separately.

    Photographs and Image Rights

    If you are a photographer, archive, collector, rights holder, or representative and believe that an image on 64 Baker Street:

    • has been incorrectly attributed;
    • contains inaccurate copyright information;
    • requires additional credit;
    • has been used under an incorrect licence;
    • or should be removed,

    please contact us with the page URL, a description of the image, and information supporting your request.

    Legitimate image-rights concerns will be reviewed.

    Please see our Image Credits page for additional information about our approach to historical photographs and archival material.

    Contributions and Research Leads

    We welcome credible research leads.

    If you know of a relevant archive collection, newly released file, specialist publication, unpublished document, or overlooked source that could improve an existing article, please send us the details.

    We are especially interested in material concerning:

    • SOE agents and staff;
    • women of the SOE;
    • F Section and other country sections;
    • resistance networks and circuits;
    • individual operations;
    • training schools;
    • secret airfields and SOE locations;
    • wireless communications;
    • Force 136;
    • equipment and technical development;
    • SOE activity outside France;
    • archival records that clarify disputed historical questions.

    Submission of a source does not guarantee publication. Evidence is evaluated according to our Research Standards and Sources & Citation Policy.

    Article Suggestions

    Suggestions for future articles are also welcome.

    If there is an SOE agent, operation, network, location, archive collection, or research question that you believe deserves coverage, let us know.

    Specific suggestions supported by useful sources are particularly helpful.

    64 Baker Street aims to provide research guides and historical reference material, but we cannot guarantee individual genealogical or archival research on request.

    For records held by an archive, researchers may need to contact the relevant institution directly or consult its catalogue.
