Organisations.....
So much of S.O.E.s work, to enable the insertion of agents into the field and support their activities, required a small army of people working behind the scenes in planning, intelligence, operations, logistics, research, security, cryptography, transport and administration.
The 'backroom staff' were drawn from all walks of civilian life, the armed forces and there were many nationalities. At its height S.O.E. had approximately 3,200 female staff.
This section will feature the organisations who contributed to the work of S.O.E.
A rough breakdown of the total numbers of women in S.O.E. is below.
| FANY (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry) | 1,500 | |
| Civilian | 1,200 | |
| ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) | 450 | |
| WAAF (Womens Auxillary Air Force) | 60 |
